Breathing Room’s Mommy and Me Yoga Series features six weeks of classes designed to allow Mum to move her body in ways that will stimulate circulation, counteract the repetitive positions a mother holds when naturally caring for her baby along with some strengthening postures to encourage the body to come back into post-baby alignment. The body only truly comes back into balance once a mother has come to the end of her breast-feeding regimen, but there is a lot that can be done to better support Mum at this time.
In this series, many poses can be done with baby in your arms and while on the floor alongside baby. Saskia looks forward to supporting you in this new chapter of parenthood!
Please note: If your baby is crawling, this is no longer the best class option for you: Come to our monthly Family Yoga on Fridays! Also, mothers are always welcome to attend class solo at any time postpartum to continue to receive a gentle yet focused postpartum asana practice and restoration!
Saskia Bergmans Smith has been teaching and studying yoga since 1997. She completed her 200hr teacher training in 2004 and her 500hr in 2007 with Kim Valeri, Founder and Director of yogaspirit® Studios. Saskia has taught prenatal and postnatal yoga since 2003; she has practiced as a doula and teaches workshops to educate parents on the importance of prenatal and postpartum self-care. She teaches in the style of the yogaspirit® lineage and is part of its 200hr teacher training faculty. From 2003-2010, she ran and operated her own yoga studio, Studio Om, in Wakefield, Ma.
