July 2021

Hello and happy July BR family,

I hope you are enjoying the sun and warmth as well as the rain and storms. They’re equally integral parts of our experience of being; learning to respect and enjoy both has its benefits and supports a fully nurtured life.

This month, my mantra stems from this sentiment as our small family of three has just returned from many weeks away spending time with our larger family as we laid to rest my beloved Terry’s and brother and sisters-in-law's mother. After a long emotional month and many, many- many hours of driving, upon returning home the exhaustion hit and I contemplated skipping writing this month's mantra and message to you, our beloved community. As I sat with that thought a powerful passage from one of my favorite books came to me:

“Always do your best. Your best is going to change from moment to moment. It will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best and you will avoid self judgment, self abuse, and regret.”

- Don Miguel Ruiz, The Four Agreements

This passage reminded me where I am now, and that what I am doing to refind balance and flow after a major life event, is enough. As each day comes, I show up for myself, my family, my students and our extended Breathing Room community in the best way I can. And I believe even showing up exhausted, raw and open is at my core, my best in the moment. In a past life it may not have felt like enough or not good enough for the business or students in my eyes, but now showing up as I am is the best I can do, and it is also very powerful to accept and honor that.

So this month my message and encouragement is this: Do your best as you are in each moment. Honor the sun and warmth of your days as well as the rain and storms. Show up for yourself in the ways you need to and give space and rest as well. Release the judgment or ‘should thinking’ of what your best could be, or once was. Honor where you are right now and allow yourself to open to the freedom and compassion that comes.

Loving you all,

Margot
