Our Story

Founded in 2009,  Breathing Room offers more than 30 weekly classes both in studio and online in addition to a robust schedule of workshops, teacher trainings and domestic and international retreats.

Class Descriptions

  • Form and Flow classes provide an education in the proper alignment and anatomy of yoga postures, igniting freedom for students to explore the breath and the body. Students will be guided through challenging sequences, creating fluidity in the practice while exploring form and breath. All levels of students are welcome and modifications will be given to ensure that everyone is able to participate.

  • Gentle Yoga classes incorporate gentle grounded movement, restorative poses, mindful breathing, and guided relaxation. Students have the opportunity to slow down, delve deeper into poses, and release tension from body and mind. This is a great class to prepare for meditation or a good night’s sleep, or as a recharge in the middle of your day!

  • Evening candlelit classes are a time to unwind from the day. The practice incorporates gentle grounded movement, restorative poses, mindful breathing, and guided relaxation. Students have the opportunity to slow down, delve deeper into poses, and release tension from body and mind. This is a great class to prepare for meditation or a good night’s sleep! Open to all levels and those new to yoga.

  • Mixed Level Vinyasa is a practice that flows from one posture to the next with an emphasis on safe alignment, fluidity, and connection to breath. Class is designed to build your relationship to the self, through mindfulness of moment-to-moment awareness without judgment or expectation. The teacher will give modifications to support new students, and options to increase intensity for seasoned practitioners.

  • Yin Yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga where postures are held for longer periods of time. These postures help in stretching connective tissue around the joints like the knees, pelvis, sacrum, spine and help to access the deeper layers of fascia. The long hold times of this practice offer the chance to sit with our emotions and can help us become more resilient to stress.

  • Restorative Yoga is a slow grounded class that focuses on rest and relaxation. Students are supported by props so the body can be comfortable, shifting the nervous system into a “rest and digest” state that is deeply rejuvenating. This practice helps to draw your attention inward, creating a sanctuary from the over-stimulation of daily life.

  • Power flow is a high-energy, advanced level vinyasa practice. In class we move through a vigorous, creative, and high endurance practice concentrating on strength and devotion within the body. If you like to rock out with fun music, challenge yourself with advanced postures and sweat, you will enjoy Power Flow! This class is for students with advanced asana practice. For your safety, please have at least one year of yoga practice experience before trying Power Flow.

Specialty Classes

  • Family yoga combines fitness, fun, connection, and relaxation! These themed classes are full of creative yoga poses, partner poses and of course, relaxation techniques for kids and parents alike. Taught by Full of Joy Yoga’s Lani Rosen-Gallagher, all ages are welcome!

  • In our Chair Yoga class tailored for aging bodies, we offer a gentle and accessible approach to yoga, focusing on promoting mobility, flexibility, and relaxation. Here's what you can expect:

Gentle Movements: Our class emphasizes gentle movements and stretches designed to accommodate the needs of aging bodies. Each pose is adapted to be performed comfortably while seated on a chair or using the chair for support.

Improved Mobility: Through a series of carefully curated chair yoga poses, participants can improve their range of motion, enhancing mobility in joints and muscles. These movements are specifically selected to address common areas of stiffness and tension.

Enhanced Flexibility: Chair yoga helps to increase flexibility gradually, allowing participants to stretch and lengthen muscles without strain. Flexibility is essential for maintaining overall mobility and preventing injury, especially as we age.

Mindful Breathing: Our class incorporates mindful breathing exercises to promote relaxation and reduce stress. Deep breathing techniques help participants to calm the mind, improve focus, and cultivate a sense of inner peace.

Safe and Supportive Environment: We provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals can practice yoga at their own pace. Our experienced instructors offer modifications and encouragement to ensure everyone feels comfortable and empowered throughout the class.

Join us to experience the rejuvenating benefits of Chair Yoga, tailored specifically for aging bodies. All Instructors are Silver Age®- based on geriatric science

  • This twenty-minute evening meditation practice is designed to calm the anxious mind and connect us to the inner quiet, joy and awe inherent in life. With a focus on breath, and an introduction to ancient meditation techniques, we will practice together to cultivate a way of engaging with ourselves and the world in a gentle manner.

Our Team

TEACHERS OPEN THE DOOR, BUT YOU MUST WALK THROUGH YOURSELF

Yoga has been such a deep part of my evolution as a human. For someone that was not raised within any one religion, I always yearned for the community that houses of worship offer their communities. I felt compelled to create a space for all people to come and feel at home and welcomed regardless of their religion, race, gender or sexual orientation; a space that can create a container for self inquiry and discovery amongst others who are doing the same.
