March 2022
Hey there March, here you are still all chilly but showing your shining light, giving us glimpses of warmth and spring on the horizon.
It is at this point in the winter where the bitterness of the cold seems to settle into my bones a little more deeply and the longing for warmth on my skin throbs in my soul. I have also noticed that along with this yearning for warmer days is that the dormant energy of hibernation that comes along with winter has begun to stir in a restless and almost anxious way in my body and mind.
As I sit with these feelings, I realize that they are actually right on time! What I mean by this is that on a very primal level, from back when we did not have all the comforts and luxuries of modern-day technologies, it would be right around now that the provisions we stockpiled for winter would begin to wane, and those feelings of “will I have enough?” would begin to surface.
I am recognizing these feelings in myself and have chosen to see them as the necessary crackings of the earth and mind that are needed for new growth and ideas to come through. As we move from the last few weeks of winter into the beginning of spring, I will practice observing these feelings and holding space for myself in transition.
And so, the mantra that I am sitting with this month is around creating more space for those cracks to form and more space for me to nourish them. More space to warm the chills and more time to turn my face to the warmth of the sun through the window. And I will be doing this by holding more space for self-care this month.
There is a lot of heavy shit in the world right now that can make the cracking of the earth feel unstable and scary so I think it is even more important to find ways to take care of ourselves. To get clear on what supports us physically, energetically, emotionally, and to lean into these tools and practices. And know that we can not be helpful and supportive of others until we are healthy and grounded in ourselves.
So what does self-care look like for you this month? For me, it is creating time for daily movement. Drinking warm tea in a sunny window. Creating time to prepare for my yearly spring cleanse of body, house, and mind. And also being more gentle with myself.
I hope you will join me in partaking in a month of much-needed self-care, we sure have a lot of beautiful offerings for that this month at Breathing Room!
I love you all, take care of yourselves.
